Catherine reaches milestone with Battle accountancy firm

A Holland Harper employee is celebrating 20 years with the accountancy practice.

Catherine Stewart joined the team at the Battle High Street offices after completing a degree in Maths at Southampton University and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2008. Before that Catherine completed A levels in accounting, maths and information technology at The Grove School sixth form.

She said: “I've always been a numbers person. My mother spotted the advert and I applied. I was lucky enough to be asked for an interview and was then offered the job.

“I started from scratch with the basics and studied for my ACCA accountancy qualification while I was working which took four years.

“After that my role began to change and I was given more independence and client-facing work. I also started helping to train others, sending out accounts and invoicing clients.

“I really love the team at Holland Harper and Roy is a great boss. I enjoy being based in Battle and working in such a beautiful building in the High Street. Seeing the changes during my 20 years has been fascinating especially the move to being paperless.”

During her time with Holland Harper Catherine has dealt with the accounts of many of the practice's business clients and has also taken on the responsibility of managing the audits for larger clients. Catherine also looks after clients' bookkeeping, VAT returns and management accounts.

Outside work Catherine enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Catherine's two children keep her busy with lots of swimming and family trips out.
